Here are some interesting things you may have known (or not known) about me :)
1. I LOVE ice cream, any flavor really, but I particully enjoy Edy's Slow Churned Cookies N Cream!
2. My favorite color is PINK, although it was blue up until the college years
3. I used to be a biology major. I changed my mind once I realized that it took me 3 semesters to pass Biology and 2 semesters to pass Chemistry. Therefore, I decided to go the more simpler route...Nursing.
4. I don't eat healthy (see #1), but I wish everyday that I did. Maybe if it wasn't so expensive to buy all the health foods, more people would do it!
5. I own a Wii console, but admit that I haven't played it for more than 6 months (it could have been even longer, I just can't remember when the last time was).
6. My favorite Wii game: Super Mario Brothers
7. I still watch soap operas (although I do get bored with the storyline from time to time). I watch Days of our Lives, and the Young and the Restless.
8. The show 'The Biggest Loser' inspires me to want to lose weight and get fit (for about 2 hours while watching it).
9. I am horrible at comparing my life to the lives of others. While I do feel that my life is pretty great, I have the strong urge to want to make sure that no one else's is better than mine :)
10. I LOVE to listen to country music. I went through a pop stage during high school, but eventually came back to my country roots when I hit college.
11. I do believe that there is only ONE person out there to love. And I believe that I have found my ONE person.
12. My sister is my best friend. We were enemies growing up, and I never thought we would be where we are at today. LOVE YOU SIS!
13. I hate shaving my legs in the winter (what girl actually likes it?!)
14. When I get bored, I eat (see #1 and #4).
15. My most memorable moments in my life have been: meeting Derek, Derek proposing, and meeting Aidan.
16. Being a mom is the best job I could have ever asked for. I wish I could be a stay at home mom, then I would be set! Too bad it doesn't pay cash!
17. I told Derek I was pregnant 2/9/09. I found out that morning, spent all day figuring out how I was going to get him to come to Topeka (I stayed there while we lived in Lawrence due to school), and finally came up with an excuse later that night. We went to Dairy Queen, and I told him there over some ice cream. He doesn't ever trust Dairy Queen again!
18. I didn't think I would love the movies Transformers, but I really, really do! Can't wait for the new one to come out!
19. Oh, I also really like the Harry Potter series :)
20. I do not like Twilight (yet...I never gave it a shot).
21. I don't wear make up unless it's a special occasion, or I feel 'festive'. I feel like I have great skin, and look just fine without all the goup.
That's all I can think of for now...I'm sure there is more, but they are supressed in my mind. Maybe I'll try and post some more later!

sleep training update
The sleep training has began. We started Friday night, which wasn't too bad. I must say, it is the hardest thing I have to do to my little boy, to allow him to cry and reach for me when I am forced to leave the room so he can sleep. But I know it's the best thing for him in the long run. Here is a breakdown of how our nights (and days) have been...
Day 1 Friday
Aidan was at daycare today, so he got his usual nap from 11:30 to 2:15pm. He always does so well at daycare (they say he is their best napper). They give him his blanket and binky, and they say he goes right to sleep. I wish it was that easy at home. Well, we started him on a bedtime routine. We pushed his bedtime a little later (usually he falls asleep by 8:30, but we pushed it back to 9-9:30 for the first several days). We feed him dinner, let him play for a while, give him a bath, take him to his room to get his jammies on, and let him play quietly in his room until it's time for bed. We usually read him a few stories before bed as well. We lay him down about 9pm, and of course he cried for a couple minutes after we left the room. I could tell he was throwing things out of his crib (later when we went to check on him to see if he was sleeping, I found a binky and a monkey on the floor). The method says that after 3 minutes (on day 1) of crying/calling out, you are supposed to go check on him to reassure him, but after 2 minutes, he stopped. So we left him as is. He was out, it was awesome. He woke up only a couple times during the night (once at 1:27 and again at 5:15). The first time he woke up, he cried for about a minute and was quiet again. The second time, he just cried once, and went back to sleep. He went all night without a binky, which makes me happy cause we are hoping that we will wean from the binky after a few weeks of getting the routine down. We then had to wake him up at 7am, so that he wouldn't oversleep. It was a wonderful first night.
Day 2 Saturday
Starting off with naptime, it was awful. But it got better. Aidan is down to 1 nap a day, and he usually falls asleep after lunch at daycare and stays asleep for a couple hours. We try to follow his daycare schedule since he is there most of the week. We fed him lunch a little early since he was acting hungry. So we tried to lay him down at 11am cause he was winding down. I laid him in his bed at 11:07, let him cry for 3 minutes (which he did), checked on him (he was so upset with me, he just wanted to hug me and let me hold him...makes me so sad), waited for 5 minutes, checked on him again (same reaction, I didn't think we were going to get a nap today), waited 10 minutes...but after about 7-8 minutes of waiting and crying, it became quiet. He tuckered himself out and finally fell asleep about 11:30. He slept for 2 1/2 hours! Not waking up once, that's solid sleep! I was so happy that he got a good nap, I had to wake him up at 2 or he probably would have slept longer. We did the same bedtime routine. We put him to bed about 9:15pm, and he cried again (he seemed scared for us to leave the room, it just breaks my heart). But he only cried for 2 minutes, then he was out and slept all night! I went into his room in the morning around 7:20am to check on him, and he was just laying in bed looking up at the ceiling. I don't know how long he was awake for, but I am glad that he was quiet and wasn't fussing.
Check back in a couple days to see how it continues!

Party Planning Time!!!
In case you don't know, my only sister is getting married this September, and I am her Matron of Honor! I get to be the person in charge for planning her bridal shower and bachelorette party, which makes me super excited! Only problem is that I am not alone. She has a second bridesmaid, which means I have to share the responsibilites and run things by another person. For those who know me, I am not good at sharing, and am very much of a control freak. I have to be the one to do EVERYTHING, or it isn't going to turn out the way I want it. So, how do I share the responsibility of something I have been thinking about since the possibility of her ever getting married? I don't know, but that's the least of my worries right now. All I am thinking about is where to have the party, what kind of cake I want, what the invites are going to look like, and the theme/decorations for the special day. I have wanted this to be the BEST bridal shower a sister can ever give!
I guess there is an advantage to 'sharing' the responibility. You get to 'share' the budget. But I understand that if the other bridesmaid will be contributing, then I should be kind enough to listen to her opinions and ideas on everything.
I hope to share all of my ideas throughout the next several months. First thing is first though, I need to think about what type of party it is going to be. I have thought of several ideas: spa party, luncheon, cocktail party, lingerie party, etc. Or I can just do some colors and decorations rather than a theme. Her colors are apple red and yellow.
I am hoping to do a two-tiered cake from the bakery that we used for our wedding. I also was thinking about doing some appetizers or a cold-sandwich bar for lunch with some pasta salads and snacks. I also want to play some fun games, maybe 2 or 3 games. Not sure about which ones though. I have purchased a book about ideas for planning a bridal shower, so hopefully that will help me out.
