Goals for finishing out 2010

With the end of the year approaching, I am in desperate need to feel like I accomplished something this year. Of course, planning a successful wedding was a BIG accomplishment, but I want something else on my list. So, I have just under 2 months to make some goals, and attempt to get them achieved. With the holidays coming up, I hope that it isn't too crazy!

So, here they are:
1. Complete Aidan's baby book with pictures and momentos.
2. Start and continue a workout plan.
3. Begin working on a wedding scrapbook.
4. Put up pictures around the house.
5. Read another book - The Last Song, by Nicholas Sparks
6. Go on a date with Derek

That's not a lot, but considering I work night shift and my days off are precious, I am hoping to get these things accomplished before the new year comes along.

I have also been working on some new year resolutions. I have come up with one goal for each month, and hopefully it will pay off for my ultimate goal in the end...lose weight (can't tell how much, just because I am hoping for whatever I can take). So here are some of my goals...
1. Stop drinking pop, and replace with water
2. Go for a walk 3 times a week
3. Cut out desserts and replace with fruits
4. Workout 3 times a week for 30 minutes a day
5. Replace snacks with vegetables
6. Stop going to fast food restaurants...limit visits, and choose healthy options.

I hope to come up with a total of 12 goals for each month next year, to ultimately get to my one resolution of weight loss. I know it's typical for weight loss to be a resolution, and I have been through it over the past several years. But this year is going to be different. I want to get into shape in order to be better off later in life. I want to make life changes, to set a good example for Aidan. I don't want him to grow up thinking that hot dogs and macaroni and cheese is part of a food group. He needs to learn to eat healthy, and I have to practice what I preach to make him understand that.

Aidan's 1st Haircut

If you haven't noticed already, Aidan's hair has been getting rather long lately. Some even mistaken him for a little girl, how sad I know. So we took the drive up to Holton, KS to get his first hair cut at the same place that I get mine done, Ginger Snips. Kelly does an amazing job on my hair, and she seems to be great with kids too. Aidan sat still for the most part (Derek held him in his lap), and didn't even cry. We cut about 1 inch off, and now he looks like such a big boy now.

So sad that he looks all grown up now, but at least his hair is under control!

Happy Halloween!

This is the first year that we dressed Aidan up in a costume and took him trick or treating. Last year, he was only a month old, and didn't really see the point. So after about an hour of hunting down a costume, I finally found one at Babies R Us. He dressed as a lion and was super cute!

His first (or rather second) party was at our apartment clubhouse. The management team through a great halloween party for kids. Aidan had a blast eating cupcakes, pizza, and cookies. He crashed pretty hard after that!

For Halloween night, we went to my Aunt and Uncle's house down in Overland Park and trick or treated in their neighborhood. Sadly, I didn't have my camera with me (I wish I brought it now!), so I didn't get any pictures of his first trick or treating experience. But he did great! He learned how to pick out the candy (and he picked a handful when he could), and put it in his bag. He waved goodbye to everyone as he was leaving. He did very well on the candy, although he can't eat half of it! Most of what he got has nuts in it, so that is off limits for him for now!

After trick or treating, we ate dinner at my family's house and Aidan was wired for quite some time afterwards. He fell asleep in the car on the way home, and barely woke up long enough to take his medicine. Actually, he didn't wake up...I just gave it to him like he was sucking on his binkie. Good thing it tasted good! We may have to do this every year, seeing how much he enjoys it!

Happy Halloween!!!
