NCLEX results

Drumroll please......

It is official! I passed my NCLEX!!! Woohoo!! I am so glad that is over with, I can't even begin to tell you. Now, I just have to wait until the Kansas State Board of Nursing sends me my paper license so I can register in Missouri. What a relief!

So now onto my career as a Registered Nurse!!! I am so glad to have credentials after my name: Melissa Welch, RN, BSN!!!!!

NCLEX

Today I took my nursing boards (also known as the NCLEX-RN exam). I was terrified going in, and terrified leaving. I have little to no confidence about how well I did. I ended up taking all 265 questions, and feel as if I didn't pass any of it. You can take a minimum of 75 questions, and a maximum of 265. It all depends on how you answer the previous question. Well, I guess I was in a loop cause it kept going and going and going. I had a feeling when I walked in to the testing center that I would take all of the questions, but was hoping for the better. I studied as much as I could, but don't feel that anything really prepared me for the test. I have to wait for my results now, and it's killing me. I just know I am going to get the 'failed' sign and will just be disappointed. Lots of people in my class passed, and I have yet to find someone who didn't yet. Everyone that took it was really smart and knew the material well. I struggled all through nursing school with the 'knowledge application' and can't seem to retain any of the information I learned. I guess I should just hope for the best, and use lots of prayers! Wish me the best!

this and that

I know it has been a while since I have posted anything, but I've been super busy. So here is a catch-up of what's been going on lately.

:: Aidan has had his 9 month check up with the doctor on July 7th. He is weighing in at 20.8 pounds and is 28.5 inches long. We talked about starting him on table food, and the doctor agreed that it would be okay. Basically, he can have anything we cook, as long as it is broken up and soft for him to chew. We also talked about switching to a forward facing carseat, and we both agree that we should wait until he is 1 year old. After all, that is what the American Pediatrics Association recommends. Overall, he is a perfectly healthy little boy, who is growing just perfectly on the growth chart.

:: The wedding planning is coming along, slowly. I met with 2 florists on July 15th, and have decided to go with a private florist named Amy. She is fantastic, has great insight, and is cheaper than going with a florist. I have also been trying to contact other people about my wedding, like my photographer and caterer, but no one seems to be returning their emails.

:: Aidan has been doing great at daycare so far. He is starting to pick up some dirty habits from the other kids though. One of them is 'bulldozing' other kids to get them out of their way. Yesterday, his teachers told me that he was trying to 'make out' with a little girl in his class. He has learned how to give kisses, so I am guessing that he is just trying to give her a little kiss. Either way, it still is pretty cute.

:: In the last month, Aidan has learned the pincer grasp (I would say closer to 9 months old). He can pick up food/toys with his two fingers rather than his whole hand. He has also learned how to stand by himself. He can only do it for about 10 seconds, but he is getting stronger with each time. I'm sure he will be walking soon, I would say by the time he is 11 months or so.

:: My computer is in the hands of the Geek Squad getting the keyboard fixed right now so I don't have any current pictures to post, sorry. As soon as I get it back, you can check on my facebook page for his 9-10 month album.

**I have been a little reluctant to post anything because I feel like its pointless since no one ever reads my blogs. If you do read my blogs and want me to keep posting stories about Aidan and wedding plans, please leave a comment or two on posts that I make. Thanks!
